Six Bungay Black Dog Running Club members travelled to Clayton to run in half marathon, 10k and ‘golden mile’ events in warm conditions with a stiff but refreshing head wind. Results were: in the half marathon Hugh Roberts 1.54, Paul Bird 2.42.32. In the 10k, Becky Berry finished her first ever race in 1.12 and Christine Kingwell and David Neeve in 1.17.49. Bob Jack who was coming back from injury was attempting a half marathon but retired after the 10k.
David Neeve also ran the golden mile race where he came third in 4:46 but it was short off a mile (0.78).
Five Black Dogs were among the 341 finishers at a well organised two-lap 5k race through the centre of Dereham. Results from the “fast and furious” run were: 73 Chris Chorley 20.23, 97 Sean O’Loughlin 21.05, 212 Bobbie Sauerzapf 24.48, 232 Graham Sampson 26.25, 295 Philip Neave 30.17.
In Ipswich, some superb times were achieved by three members competing in the inclusive 5k Twilight race. ‘Second claim’ Black Dog Will Law scored a personal best 16.45 while David Sparshott and Matt Spencer both finished in 16.21.
Andrew Manning (pictured) ran The Hangman Ultra – a tough 54k route, 95% of which was off-road in very undulating and scenic Hampshire countryside. He finished a very creditable 5th overall in 5hrs 10mins.
