More than 30 Bungay Black Dog Running Club (BBDRC) members turned out for the annual Humpty Dumpty 10k race last weekend (24 June). Very warm weather made the undulating course between Freethorpe and Reedham challenging for the 679 runners taking part. Meanwhile, a group of BBDRC juniors were competing at the Norwich Junior Triathlon.
In the Tristar 2 Girls event, Tess Andrews took first place while Caroline Cox Hartigan was 15th. Among the Tristar 2 Boys, Harry Smith was 2nd, Freddie Cox Hartigan 5th and Matthew Lightfoot 11th. Jack Allcock was 6th in the Tristar 3 boys and Harry Allcock 4th among the Youth Boys:.

Back among the seniors, a hot, humid and hilly Capel 5 five mile race just south of Ipswichhad 126 finishers, among them 27 Chris Chorley 35.28 and 74 Bobbie Sauerzapf 42.18. Harp24hr event
Jody Donaldson and Andrew Manning travelled to Southend for the Harp24hr event on a 4.2miles lapped trail.  Andrew bowed out at just over 46 miles while Jody completed 50.3 miles.
Determined to bring what is usually winter season cross country running into the summertime, Bobbie Sauerzapf and Chris Chorley took the 10km option in the East Anglian Cross Country League race at Brandon Country Park, reporting on “a gorgeous setting and very welcoming park staff”.
At St Edmund Pacers 5 mile cross country evening event in rolling countryside south of Bury St Edmunds, the Black Dog results among 427 finishers were: 18 Chris Hall 29.31, 121 Chris Cholrey 35.00, 250 Bobbie Sauerzapf 41.05.
